        About SchoolCAD

SchoolCAD is free, browser-based CAD for school Design & Technology. Students design their own products in the Part workspace, using the same tool names and workflow as Onshape, Autodesk Fusion and SOLIDWORKS (sketch, constraints, dimensions, extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, fillet, chamfer, hole, pattern, mirror, boolean, mates and drawings), so their skills carry straight over when they move on.

It is also built for differentiated instruction:

Free for students. Schools can have the projects they already teach loaded as scaffolded tutorials. Everything runs in the browser: no accounts, and nothing is uploaded.

Guides, the blog and information for schools are at schoolcad.com.

Read-aloud in word help uses AI voices (Microsoft Azure neural text to speech), recorded in advance and stored with SchoolCAD, so nothing is sent anywhere when students play them.

Exact geometry (true fillets and chamfers, STEP export) uses OpenCascade (LGPL 2.1) through replicad (MIT), running in your browser.

The Render window uses three.js and three-gpu-pathtracer (MIT). Pictures are made on your computer, with no AI and nothing uploaded.

Onshape, Autodesk Fusion and SOLIDWORKS are trademarks of their respective owners. SchoolCAD is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
